What WiFi does it need?
2.4 GHz WiFi (not 5 GHz). Most home routers broadcast both bands automatically — the feeder connects to the 2.4 range for stability.
What kibble sizes work?
Dry food from 3mm to 10mm. Wet food is not supported (it clogs the auger). If you feed wet food primarily, the water side still works — pair with a separate wet food bowl for meals.
How long does the battery backup last?
~4-6 hours of feeding operation on backup battery alone. Long enough to cover most short power outages. For extended outages, the plug picks up as soon as power returns.
Can I use it without WiFi?
Yes. Manual feeding buttons on the device work without WiFi. But you lose remote control and camera access.
What if my cat is a food thief and eats too much at once?
Portion control per meal is set in the app (5g increments). Anti-clog and anti-tampering design prevents cats from breaking into the hopper.
Multi-cat household?
Works for 1-2 cats sharing. For 3+ cats or when portion control per cat is critical (medications, weight management), we recommend separate feeders — this unit shares food between all cats.
Does it work without WiFi?
Yes for basic scheduling — pre-programmed times run without internet. But you lose remote-feed, camera view, and schedule changes. WiFi is required for the "smart" features.
What if the power goes out?
Built-in battery backup runs the feeder for up to 7 days. Scheduled feeds continue as normal. When power returns, the unit reconnects to WiFi automatically.
Can I use it with wet food?
Dry food only for the dispenser (wet food would spoil at room temp before dispense). The water bowl works with any water. For wet-food cats, dispense dry as the "kibble course" and hand-feed wet separately.
Does the camera record 24/7?
No — camera activates on-demand when you open the app or when the feeder dispenses. This preserves privacy and reduces bandwidth. Live-view is available anytime you open the app.
